Today we’re going to learn the next step for enjoying prime time health, GRAZE ON GOOD FOOD.  First let’s review what we’ve learned so far.  (I’ve attached links to the prior posts if you are joining the series mid-stream.)

Step 1: Make Health Your Hobby

Healthy prime timers learn to take care of their body.

Healthy prime timers create a maintenance manual and follow it.

Step 2: Keep your Arteries Clean

Avoiding sticky foods is an important first step in keeping your arteries clean.

Eating a whole food diet fuels your body with foods that keep your internal pharmacy operating effectively.

Step 3: Move!

Moving your body opens your internal pharmacy.

The best exercise is one you enjoy and will do!

In today’s video Dr. Sears explains why one key to feeling good during the prime time years is to have a stable insulin level.

Here is the video for step 4: Graze on good food

  • Remember to shop the perimeter of the store!  This is where the fresh, whole foods are.  I highly recommend buying organic whenever your budget allows.  Here is a handout explaining why.
  • If shopping for fresh, whole foods is a new concept for you this healthy food shopping list may be helpful.
  • Avoiding ingredients commonly found in processed foods results in less of a toxin burden.  Dr. Sears listed several ingredients to avoid (high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, MSG to name a few).  Here is a handout on several controversial ingredients and why it is wise to avoid them.

“Eat bad and you will feel bad.  Eat good and you will feel good”.
