The holidays and food are interwoven and connected on many levels.
There are traditional foods associated with many holidays. Thanksgiving and turkey. Easter and ham. St. Patrick’s Day and corned beef. Christmas and prime rib. Hanukkah and latkes.
We eat more than we should, and I’m just thinking of the big dinners. Christmas is different. We add baked goods- cookies, fudge, peanut brittle. These snacks are EVERYWHERE! Just having the sweet treats so available is stressful to me. I do not eat gluten or cow’s milk. Every gathering I’m at I feel I need to explain why I don’t eat those foods. In my last post I gave you some ideas for healthy alternatives, here is a copy of 20 Healthy Snack Ideas in case you missed it.
Another tip for avoiding giving in to the temptation of endless holiday snacking is to be sure to include a healthy protein with every meal. In the “Let Food by thy Medicine” module of Less Stress Holidays I teach you how much protein you need and the best sources.
