Hippocrates is known as the father of medicine. Newly educated physicians take the “Hippocratic Oath“. Sadly our “healthcare” system does not resemble his wisdom. Today I want to review just a few pearls of his wisdom.

Nutrition is not a significant part of the curriculum in medical school. There are a myriad of diet books, not one is right for everyone. We are each created as unique individual. Real food will contribute to better health.

Walking has been shown to be more effective at improving mood than any antidepressant pharmaceutical. Real food can help correct imbalances and support production of neurotransmitters.

When a person is ill the disease does NOT define who they are.
I observed a beautiful example of this when visiting a family member with dementia. Posted in the room were pictures of who she was, her story, pictures of family. Several pieces of furniture that were special to her were in her room. She was a person who had dementia.
Natural or alternative medicine, as practiced today, is more similar to the teachings of Hippocrates than allopathic or “traditional” medicine. As your health coach I focus on the foundational aspects of health: macro and micro nutrients, movement, sleep, stress relief and fun. When one piece of this puzzle is missing our lives become unbalanced. The body has a desire to reach balance and without approaching each of these areas the balance achieved will only be temporary. Working with me requires the desire to really learn what it means to change your life. If you are married to your current lifestyle or full of excuses then I am not the coach for you. If you are ready to be educated, learn health skills that you can carry throughout your life to help you see transformation in all areas of your life then please contact me here. I will never make false promises or tell a client they can be cured to healed. I believe that getting well is 100% up to the client (not me or the doctor). Getting to a place where the body can repair takes a multi pronged approach and anything I suggest to the client is followed up with “I recommend you talk with your doctor before making any changes”.
I think Hippocrates was spot on when he said “Let food be thy medicine and medicine thy food”. We should be eat whole foods in the form they were created by God. (Genesis 9:3 Every living creature will be food for you; as I gave the greenplants, I have given you everything.)
“A wise man should consider that health is the greatest of human blessings, and learn how by his own thought to derive benefit from his illnesses.”
